In the year 1919 Textile shop was started as "SHRI KRISHNA SWADESHI HALL" by Krishnappa Chettiar. It was the first licensed ration textile shop within 100 kms radius. Then his son Kubera Chettiar renamed it as "LAKSHMI STORES" and finally as Shree Mahalaksmi Stores", a name that sustains till date Our street was named after him as Kubera street. Then his grandson Janardhanan Chettiar expanded it as "MAHALAKSHMI SILK COMPLEX" with 14 Govt. Co-Operative silk societies as a silk complex for the first time in Tamil Nadu His Great Grand sons expanded it into a 45000 Sq. Ft., multi-storied air conditioned showroom with elevators for the first time in Villupuram District in 2006. The showroom now has Society silk sarees, Bridal collections, Ready wares, Baby accessories, watches, toys, baggage's, fashion jewellery and books.

In 2006, We decided to cater our customers with gold and diamond jewellery of the finest quality and designs, We joined hands with one of the leading retailing company in India, Titan TATA GOLDPLUS, now Tanishq - Retail Chain. In 2009, We added another store at Vellore. We are proud to adorn many awards from the brand in various operations of the store.
